Aspiring Vungu legislator promises to pay for clinic guard’s salary

Staff reporter

Zanu PF Vungu constituency aspiring Member of the House of Assembly Brown Ndlovu has said he will pay the salary of a security personnel at Makepesi clinic in Lower Gweru.

The security guard at the clinic has for months been paid by contributions from community members and the local councillor for the area.

But speaking on Monday after touring t he health centre, Ndlovu said he will cater for security guard’s payment as well as refurbishing t he clinic, in a move analysts say is tantamount to vote buying.

“There is no longer need to get the security personnel’s money from the community,”Ndlovu said.

“I have chipped in and the US$100 will come from me.

“As for the clinic l have noticed that the ceiling needs rehabilitation. As you know I have been in the construction business for some time and so my guys will come and assess the ceiling leakages so that we can rehabilitate this place.”

Ndlovu urged people to unite for the development of the area saying members should put behind them primary elections.

“The (primary) elections are over and members should rally behind the (winning) candidates representing the party in the forthcoming elections,”he said.

There is need for aggressive campaign strategies and denounce functionalism in all its forms.”

Ndlovu beat incumbent Vungu legislator Omega Sibanda in the party primary elections held a few months ago.

There have been reports of disgruntlement from some who lost in the primary elections.
