MDC defections a reflection of political civilisation, says Chebundo.

MDC defections a new wave of political civilisation: Chebundo

The on-going defections by both senior officials and activists from
MDC-Alliance to join Zanu PF is a sign of that political civilisation
is now been achieved in the country, former MDC Kwekwe central
legislator, Blessing Chebundo has said.
Chebundo together with former MDC-Alliance deputy treasurer-general
Lilian Timveous were recently paraded at State House by President
Emmerson Mnangagwa and are among others who have since joined Zanu PF.
Speaking recently in Gweru at a meeting held by the Zanu PF Midlands
to welcome newcomers from the opposition party, Chebundo said the
province was going to enjoy unity and peace “never seen before” as a
result of “more people from the opposition joining Zanu PF.”
“What we are witnessing is a new wave of political civilisation that
is not going to be stopped by anyone,”Chebundo said.
“Midlands should be united and rally behind President Emmerson
Mnangagwa ahead of the 2023 elections. There should be big victory for
ED (Mnangagwa).”
Chebundo took to bootlicking when he said that the only centre of
power in the country was Mnangagwa.
“Midlands is one, Zimbabwe is one and the President is one,” he said.
“This is the province where the President comes and as such the
province should show that it can be peaceful and united and rally
behind ED to realise big victory in 2023,”he said.
Before joining Zanu PF Chebundo reportedly faced Zanu PF brutality
when he defeated Mnangagwa in Kwekwe in the 2000 parliamentary
elections.
There were many threats to both his and family’s lives following the
winning of that seat.
Political analysts claim the defections by senior opposition officials
are a result of being enticed by Zanu PF with money.
But recently Zanu PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo rubbished the
allegations saying they were “hogwash.”
