MSU scoops 12 medals at tertiary games

The Midlands State University (MSU) last week scooped our gold medals,
six silver and and two bronze medals at the Zimbabwe Tertiary
Institutions Sports Union (ZTISU) games held at the University of
Zimbabwe, Gweru Gazette Sport has established.

MSU won in athletics, women soccer, ladies pool, volleyball and netball.
“Four gold medals were won after tantalising performances in the men’s
category of the 4 by 100 metre relay, discuss, women soccer and ladies
pool,”MSU said in a statement.
“MSU students Munashe Muzira, Caroline Maphosa and Rosyline Dube also
walked away with awards for top goal scorer, best goalkeeper and
player of the tournament respectively. Team MSU went further and
clinched silver medals in 200 metres men, the women’s category of 4 by
100 metres, women volleyball and women basketball. Two bronze medals
were brought home from the men’s category of 800 metres as well as
netball.

MSU sports director James Chivivi commended the students for raising
high the flag of the higher learning institution through sport.
He said the games also prepared MSU students for the Zimbabwe National
Youth and Paralympic games to he held from July 27 to August 10.
“I`m quite happy about the performance especially with the ladies
teams,”he said.
“The ladies are carrying the flag of the university because we had
gold in pool ladies and we also had gold in women football. Generally
am quite impressed by the performance.”
